Leona Lewis…INCREDIBLE!

29 01 2008

I don’t usually write about music but…Not ever has such worldwide hype surrounded one artist from the U.K. However, this hype is well deserved because this young lady from Hackney in London has a stunning voice with critics and the famous alike raving about the voice and beauty of this 22 year old girl!

From humble beginnings as a secretary, she gained fame after entering  the U.K. talent show, The X Factor (similar to American Idol) where she stunned the judges and audiences with a voice that was reminiscent of Whitney and Mariah, thereafter she cativated the entire nation.

Each and every week she wowed the U.K. with “world-class” performances and never failed to give it her all! Britain was overjoyed but not too surprised when she won (by a long way) on the final show and as proof of how much they believed in her they rushed to their computers to buy her debut U.K. single ‘A Moment Like This’, Leona broke the fastest selling download record by selling over 50,000 downloads in under thirty minutes, and it was crowned Christmas number 1 soon after.

2006 was one year Leona and Britain would not forget in a hurry!

Then, she almost disappeared with the exception of the X-Factor tour as she went off to meet with Clive Davis (music Mogul behind the likes of Alicia Keys and Whitney Houston) and a plethora of writers to create an album that would show the world what she was capable of.

In the fall of 2007, almost a year after she won x-factor she returned with ‘Bleeding Love’. Not a ballad as such which is what most were expecting, but a tune with  a r’n'b influence and more grit than anything we saw from her on the show. The U.K. loved it and it topped our charts in its first week of release outselling the rest of the Top Ten put together! It stayed at number 1 for an amazing 7 weeks and officially became the biggest selling record of 2007!

During this time she also released ‘Spirit’ her debut album which was equally loved staying at Number 1 for a total of 6 weeks. It was also the U.K.’s fastest selling debut album, and the fourth fastest selling album of all time!

Since, she has become an international success over the U.K. much of Europe and many other parts of the world, and now Leona has high hopes to be as popular in the U.S. too, with the hype steadily growing day by day and many performances, appearances and interviews lined up for later this year including American Idol, Oprah and American Vogue there’s little chance that she won’t become a massive success!

Also her image has never been doubted as anything but stunning but since her new single, she has also taken on a new sense of style and a presence that has Diva written all over it, which certainly lives up to the Diva in her voice!

Shes gorgeous!

‘Bleeding Love’ is set to hit the U.S. shores in February and her debut album ‘Spirit’ is to be released in April.

From what I’ve heard, America can’t wait!

Little Miss Cover Girls

22 01 2008

No matter what you think of these two girls, in fashion terms they do a very good cover shoot!

Featuring in this months issue of French Vogue, Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss look very stylish and edgy! Although some have commented that they are getting a bit boring and need to move aside. However I think this could be New Year, New Start for both women? Lets see how the year pans out, shall we!

Well, whats your opinion?

Little Miss Style Advisor

22 01 2008

So you may not have heard but one of the many Little Misses of Fashion is about to become the new style adviser of Elle U.K. for six months. Who is it you ask?

Miss Chloe Sevigny! Now despite popular opinion among some about her style or lack of, I think she has great individuality that should be admired it not slated!

This is a positive addition for Elle U.K. magazine and I will be buying it as soon as it hits the stands in March! She will be gracing the cover as well so you can’t miss it!

Plus, I hear that the rock-ability collection that she created for Open Ceremony in the U.S. will be coming to Selfridges soon, so if your near by go take a look!

AND…i hear she will be creating a shoe range for Poste Mistress through Opening Ceremony! It has been rumoured that the collection will be available very soon and be sold through Harvey Nichols and the Poste Mistress flagship store in London. Oh, how I wished I lived in London!

She has been a busy Little Miss. Keep up the good work Chloe!

P.S. Don’t forget March issue of Elle U.K. out near start of February.

Kate Moss Parties with the Stars…

20 01 2008

…literally, well, sort of! For the top supermodels 34th Birthday Bash she decided to party for 34 hours (that’s one hour for every year of her life), unfortunately her years may have caught up with her as she is reportedly gone to bed at the 18th hour (I’m surprised she didn’t make it to 24, at least). Still 18 is admirable considering how much Don Perigon was drunk by Kate and her party guests at the Dorchester with the final room service bill adding up top a whopping £37000.

It is all supposed to have started at 2:30pm on Wednesday at the Dorchester Hotel on Park Lane where Kate had booked the top two floor suites at a price of £2500 each, she turned up wearing this outfit that only she would have the confidence to wear and actually still looked good (picture features below) and then she and some of her closest friends had a very British time with Tea and Cakes. At 8pm they with some other guests had a meal at the China Tang restaurant. Afterwards the party headed to the Punk Club in Soho where many more guests joined the partying, at this time Kate had curled her hair and painted a star over her eye to enhance the glam punk theme. At 2:30 they went back to the Dorchester with a few select friends, then they went to the North London home of friend Rose Ferguson at 6am before finally arriving back home to her new £8 million home in St. Johns Wood North London.

The eclectic guests included her mother, Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie and wife Katy England, Meg Matthews and David Walliams, Ronnie Wood with his wife Jo, Davinia Taylor and Kelly Osbourne, snooker player Jimmy White, Jools Holland and Jamiroquai singer Jay Kay, plus Sir Philip Green wearing a rather interesting jacket (pictured below), and Rocker boyfriend of Kate, Jamie Hince who arrived with a present and many of Kate’s other pals.

Ronnie Wood and Jimmy White

Davinia Taylor and Kelly Osborne following the same theme as Kate with sparkle around the eyes!

Meg Matthews and David Williams

Bobby Gispelle and Katy England

Personally I’m not much interested in the party itself but more what was worn, more specifically by Kate Moss herself. So where was Kate Moss’s fab. outfit from? (Which was a double trend because not only is it covered in stars, a key look this Spring but it’s a jumpsuit too!)

Chanel, can you believe it! We first saw this outfit on Claudia Schiffer over a year ago for a magazine shoot on the beach.

I personally think Kate pulls this outfit off better this time.

If you want to go stars for Spring too, much of the high street can offer many styles but if you really want to look like a star, www.ASOS.com does a great selection inspired by what the celebrities where! Including this great dress…

and this blouse too.

As for many of the other rumours surrounding the party events, I don’t know about you but i’m not interested in tabloid speculation and rumours.

Zac Efron…

17 01 2008

You may or may not know that I am not the biggest High School Musical fan much to some peoples disbelief, however I can appreciate that he is looking a little more fashionable lately with the messy hair, stubble and suit in the video below. An improvement on his preened to perfection look before….

Brit’s in Dresses ‘07

3 01 2008

This is very difficult to pick the best dresses worn by Brits in 2007 as there have been a multitude of divine dresses that have stunned us into awe from many red carpet events including award ceremonies, premieres, catwalk events and more.

I must say I loved this dress…

…worn by Agyness Deyn, Model of the Year 07 and designed by Giles, who’s designs I simply love! I like it so much as it just perfectly fits what I perceive to be Agyness’ personality yet adds so much glamour to her usual style.

We all remember the emerald dress from Atonement worn by Beauty Icon of 2007, Keira Knightley, truly stunning!

So beautiful it has been voted best movie costume of all time, that’s ahead of the white dress worn by Marilyn Monroe in The Seven Year Itch

and Audrey Hepburn’s black dress in Breakfast At Tiffany’s.

Now that’s what I call a dress! The red dress in the Chanel Coco Mademoiselle advert was gorgeous too…

This is not the only dress Keira has worn that I adored this year, she has had numerous other triumphs on the red carpet. This next one for the London premiere of Atonement mesmerized the crowds and press alike.

I hardly think it’s fair that this young lady has so many beautiful dresses when I have none as stunning as what she has adorned in 2007 including the next one by Chanel.

If you can cast your minds back to the Oscars all those months ago then you’ll remember Kate Winslet in this long Sage number.

She oozes effortless glamour.

Now, if you take a look back a couple of years ago you would cringe at the atrocious outfits that this next girl was wearing but since her appearance in Chicago she has become a glamorous lady with impeccable style if the red dress at the British Fashion Awards is anything to go by.

Lets hope this continues.

Lily Allen stepped up from vintage girl to designer diva with this simple but glamorous red dress.

Sienna Miller hasn’t always been a favourite of mine but this dress was worth the mention, the detail contrasts the delicate fabric perfectly.

Finally Kate Moss wore a very pretty delicate long vintage dress recently but some clumsy co-celeb stepped on it and unfortunantly in ripped, for any other star this would mean disaster, for Kate it meant stylish mini dress (after some innovative alterations from a friend).

On Kate, I think it looks better as a mini…

2007 has definitely been a great year for British stars with Keira being the clear winner (even though it’s not a competition) and 08 is set to be even better, hopefully.
