Cushionista…

21 12 2007

I have seen this cushion in numerous weekly and monthly magazines so I thought it was obligatory that I should mention it too.

This rather cute cushion is both patriotic and stylish, with a price tag of £60 for the oblong and £75 for the square you may be thinking its a little pricey but I consider it a purchase that is well worth having.

Created by Jan Constantine, a textile designer with backgrounds in fashion, interiors and styling, she has gathered together her experience, her love of decoration and her Constantine drive to fulfill a lifetime’s ambition and produce her own collection of household embroidered textiles, from aprons to cushions.

With it’s pale colours and heart in the middle it will be a seamless addition to any room but bold enough to be a lovely conversation piece to enchant your friends and make them jealous of your style! It’s embroidered so looks vintage inspired yet simple so is perfect for a modern home too.

The Brit. flag is making a comeback in every way, it has made it’s way into many celebrity homes too with most recently being seen in Mary-Kate and Ashley’s new New York million $$$$ pad (on cushions) so this little piece of decor is a must have in your homes for 08!

These cushions and many other stylish options are available from the www.thelondoncushioncompany.com or www.janconstantine.com.

Ugg update…

21 12 2007

After all, I thought it best to let you know whether I let myself fall for those fluffy boots and, well, I did. They are not the little black pair that I spotted at work but a gorgeous brown pair with white trim, they look like the genuine article, plus they are most pleasingly a size smaller than I usually wear, a UK 7. This is a much needed ego boost for a girl with size 8 feet! I will be wearing them with pride very soon!

‘THE’ Mr Blogger

17 12 2007

This is not a euphemism, it’s Perez Hilton!

This slightly overweight guy in LA that has become famous for bitching about the stars on his blog and now has a huge fan base (who mostly are crazy, but good crazy).

He has become a celeb. in his own right and gets talked about on other peoples blogs just for expressing himself on his own blog – oh look, so am I!

Unafraid to give his own point of view on the celebrities around the world or when deciding what to wear. Which as you may or may not know is eccentric as his hair, and as far as I can remember it has been every colour under the sun!

Perez, the friend.

Perez, the spokesman.

Perez, the peacemaker.

Perez, the ultimate drinks buddy.

Perez, the intellectual.

He may have bad fashion taste according to some standards and awful hair but his style makes him different, stand out from others and he becomes recognisable to anyone around the world who has seen his blog!

He doesn’t take himself too seriously or apologise for his choices in fashion and it’s why regularly I click onto his site to see what he and his blogging team have to say, plus to see what atrocious outfit he may be sporting that week (only kidding, love your style really Perez).

His musings are read by literally millions of people around the world and he has the ability to tarnish a rep. because he hears the gossip first – good or bad and puts it straight on his blog (sometimes before the media) which is why celeb’s want to be on his good side.

There is also a huge non-fan base who go out of their way to make their hatred for him known to everyone, including people who comment on his site and call him fat etc. but really, what is the point? Not everyone can like you, and if they hate him so much then why do they waste their precious time on him?!

Perez, the other Puff Daddy.

His fan base includes celebrities who he parties with on many occasions including Beth Ditto and Tori Spelling (pictured above), some aren’t too fond of what he writes (such as Victoria Beckham pictured at the top) and sometimes I disagree but he really doesn’t care!

I salute you Perez for never failing for being confident in who you are everyday in every way!

You can tell he lives in LA, man are those teeth white! Jazz hands everyone!

Fascinator? Facisnating!

16 12 2007

The Christmas season is upon us and we are all searching for that perfect dress or outfit to dazzle your co-workers, most of us may have that sorted by now but what about your accessories, more specifically your hair accessories. To really show off how stylish you really are go for the fascinator. Whats that I hear you say? According to ‘wiki’, a fascinator is a headpiece, worn on the hair. They are commonly made with feathers, flowers or beads. They are an adornment for formal attire and an alternative to wearing a hat.

A facisnator is the perfect way to add drama to any outfit. They can be any colour, match your outfit or contrast it, it’s your choice, hat shopping can be very fun! Try taking pictures, perhaps in the most outrageous fascinators and amuse you and your friends too.

If there is one person who can pull off any hat or facsinator at any occasion it is Ms. Dita Von Teese!

The woman that epitomises class, style and effortless glamour!

You owe it to your inner woman and fashionista to wear a fascinator on the outside! Even if you are not confident enough to wear a full one, you can still try a headband with a cluster of jewels giving you just enough fascination to out sparkle your friends.

After all when a star steps out in a facisnator you know she is something special, why not you too!

Little Miss Fahionista

16 12 2007

Mischa has a good fashion sense, though she probably is type cast as “The OC” girl forever she can dress for any occasion and stand out from the crowd (in a good way). Just like her appearance in Belfast at the opening of her new film, Closing The Ring where she went out in the cold wearing a black and white smart number (love the silver jewels and studded shoes).

This outfit is perfectly on trend and bare legs in winter, my what a brave girl – well, she is a Brit at heart!

I am not so sure about the hair, the styling is amateurish and that colour needs redoing, preferably in a darker shade - that blond doesn’t suit her pale, dewy complexion. The overall look could have been improved with more dramatic eyes to match the almost gothically inspired outfit.

But her hair and make up stylist are to blame there, her outfit is her doing and for that I applaud her. I wish I could find an outfit  like this on the high street, not likely!

Mr Beckham’s “contribution” to fashion!

14 12 2007

Whilst Victoria argues with the other Spice Girls on those Tesco adverts for which they each received a measly million, David has signed a £20 million deal to become the new global ambassador of fashion house Giorgio Armani.

A “contribution” is what I am going to call it, although I don’t really think anyone notices the Armani ‘tighty whiteys’ in this saucy picture for billboards across the USA. I’m so jealous, the last billboard I drove by was advertising spot cream.

The ad. campaign was shot in LA recently with fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.

He still has deals running with Adidas, Pepsi, Motorola and perfume maker Coty – which produces fragrances named after him and Victoria – and earns £500,000 a week from his playing contract. Nice!

He really isn’t that great at football anymore, despite the fuss that was made when he moved to America, but don’t worry David, you’ve got alot of other redeeming qualities (in more than just one way)!

I just don’t know who to thank, David or Armani?

Uggs, do you like?

13 12 2007

Real or fake, every second person seems to own a pair. Not me; yet! No doubt i’ll succumb to the trend that I thought was over last winter (I have to say my intial hatred has turned around, I can see the appeal of them). I actually have my eye on a little mid-calf black pair at work (fake of course but they look as good as any Ugg could ever get, like I would or could ever spend all that money on the real deal).

So what is an Ugg, well most think its those big fluffy boots that are supposed to make your legs look slim whilst keeping you feet toasty warm. In reality Ugg is a brand, an Austrailian brand, who knew? They sell boots, shoes, slippers, handbags, outerwear and even cushions and rugs.

The Ugg website says: “The UGG® Australia product platform is directed toward consumers who value luxury, comfort and the highest quality footwear available.” So now you know, Ugg is not just a big boot, its so much more.

However here in the UK and probably the USA too, the Ugg is just a big boot. Just like the ones below…

The reason they are sooo popular is the massive celebrity following they seem to have generated. From Z list to A list they’re all wearing a pair of Uggs; they probably own many more colours and types than you or I ever would even consider.

Yes, just a tiny few of the numourous stars wearing the UGG. Up there we have Kate Moss, Sienna Miller, Thandie Newton and Kate Bosworth rocking the look in casual wear.

All these stars are known for their sense of fashion and style, so it looks like you’ll have to get a pair if you want to be considered fashionable (even though they are the number 1 item on my list of most unlikely fashionable items), it seems they are firmly here to stay.

What do you think, are Uggs lovely or Uggly (bad, i know). Really, are they here to stay or do you hope they are on their way out? Vote here!

Little Miss Fashionable

13 12 2007

I’m so excited, my first proper post and my first Little Miss all rolled into one.

Little Miss Fashionable of the moment is…drum-roll please…Chloë Sevigny.

There’s no denying her seemingly effortless cool and almost always spot on individual fashion sense which delivers more mystery, intrigue and interest than that other ‘it’ girl ever could. Oh, whats her name again? Yeah, Paris Hilton.

She is my queen of vintage who rarely ever seen in anything other than a gem of an outfit, each one worth a look even when you aren’t fond of it, it’s likely to showcase an item that’s so on trend shes wearing it before you knew about it! She’s a dark horse of the fashionistas!

Not just that, but shes also created a capsule collection for an American boutique chain, Opening Ceremony and it’s quite good. Here she is with her stylish friends modeling the collection.

It’s a little less adventurous than I was expecting (and small too) but the rockability feel and patterns just seem to work so well that it becomes something a bit more special than the fast fashion dross that you’d see on the high street. Plus it works, it flows, it’s not a mismatch of items (like some celebrity lines), it’s a real collection.

In this little clip Chloë Sevigny chats about the line.

(I’d love those Gingham trousers too, not that I’d ever have the guts to wear them, they just wouldn’t look right on me~trust me.)

So heres to you this December Chloe, we love your unmistakable style and want to see more of your creations soon. Thats an order Little Miss!

Hello my fashionable lovelies!

12 12 2007

As it says up there, Hello! I’m ——–, and I live in England: yes, I drink tea in my parlor room and have scones and cakes in the afternoon then go sit in the pretty parks in the rain, note the sarcasim. (Just a harmless joke to pander to the myth of stereotypes.) This is my blog and it’s about my fashion musings. Lets not dawdle anymore, we’ll get started. So…

Haute couture, pret-a-porter (ready-to-wear), high street, thrift, vintage, retro, whatever you have in your wardrobe. It’s all the same in my head – OK don’t get upset you die hard fashionistas. I know there are big differences but fashion is all one thing, isn’t it,: fashion is a trend of some sort whether it be what you wear or even something else entirely, in the words of Coco Chanel…

‘Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening’

Fashion Queen

Just because this is fashion blogging doesn’t mean i’ll only talk about fashion, in fact in life I rarely talk about it. Many people I know don’t have the same interests that I do, so you’ll be my outlet for it. As I was saying i’ll talk about music, art and celebrities too, they all influence each other anyway so it will all tie in together and you will barely notice; well you may but hey, it’s my blog!

So, for now ta ta my lovelies – tommorow is a new day and it will bring you new bloggings! Mwah xx
